Update On The New Project

AKA What am I making?

So 24 days ago I wrote that Reaper, Inc. is on hold till an unknown date and 4 days after I wrote that I wrote that I wanted to make something in the interim.

Reaper, Inc. from a production stand point is still very much on hold. There are however some rewrites that we need to do. Rewrites aside I still do want to make something.

However, as I said before, I’m tapped out writing wise. That still holds to be true. Everything I’ve tried to write recently has either been a derivative of Reaper, Inc. or a random series of shots that I just want to do for my reel. Nothing that currently feels worth the effort/risk to produce.

The really sad part of it is that it looks like I probably won’t be able to produce something for the My Rode Reel Contest because I just don’t have a script that feels worth making. It’s not to say that I can’t just make something for the sake of making it outside of a contest, but I do like deadlines and chance to win.

I did spend some time looking for a script that would work. While there are some really well written and amazing scripts out there written by some very talented people, none of them fit what I want to do.

Jakub, The cinematographer for Reaper, Inc. suggested doing a spec commercial and that would be cool. However the only idea’s I have is largely just a fashion commercial and for obvious covid reasons that won’t work.

Sean, who is working with me/helped me write some of Reaper, Inc. also wants to try to make something. Sean is a very good writer who has recently won a grant of his own for his script “A Nickname”. Personally I’m hoping he has some ideas because I don’t.
