Reaper Inc.- Part 15- Writing 6
So it’s been a bit since my last update. Sean,Mike, and myself had an initial meeting to go over Filmaka’s feedback on 08/26/19. Then, roughly 3 weeks from that day, and about a month since I spoke with Filmaka (08/21/2020) we met again. We tried to meet earlier but things kept coming up, it happens.
We wound up meeting on 09/14/2020, a Monday, not our usual Wendsday. The meeting went really well. I wasn’t expecting to get much done other than deciding what changes we would make. I had some notes and ideas but was excited to see what everyone else came up with.
Mike had decided to take it upon himself to do a draft of the rewrites. Sean and I were shocked and very happy he did so. It gave us a jumping off point and I’m very happy with the changes.
So what did we settle on? What changes did we make?
Episode 3: We added some dialogue into the action.
Episode 5: We added a short office scene into the this episode. Prior to that it was all Margret.
Episode 6: We tacked on/shortened/tightened episode 7 and put it here. Looking back all of what we cut now feels like filler. I’m really grateful Filmaka gave us this note.
Episode 7: This episode got a complete rewrite. It went from a quasi horror comedy to a full on horror comedy. I really love the changes. I think it might wind up being out best episode.
Episode 8: Really not much here, just changed the characters positions based on the ending of 7.
All in all we cut out a lot of fat, added some scenes, reworked somethings, and rewrote an entire episode. Overall I think it’s funnier and tighter. We have at least one more meeting before we send it off and wait again for more feedback.
Stay tuned for that in the next installment!
